The Mustang Owners club of WA was formed in 1978 as a result of an advertisement in the local paper by Brian Walsgott who is the founding member of the club, as a result a group of enthusiasts met at Brian’s house and the club was formed. The club is affiliated with the Mustang Owners Club of Australia, which is in turn affiliated internationally with the Mustang Club of America. The club has grown since the early days and currently has a membership approaching 200 as at January 2008. You do not have to own a mustang to be a member; the club welcomes all enthusiasts and caters for all individuals, the only requirement being an enthusiasm for the Ford Mustang. The focus of the club is preservation of the marque and social activities for the members to enjoy. The activities include show and shine, club cruises, autokhana and track days as well as barbecue’s social outings and weekend cruises to various country centres. The club holds an annual “Round-up” and Concours event every March, which includes a presentation dinner for all members, this event provides everyone with the opportunity to show their cars and make new acquaintances. The club publishes it’s own magazine the “Western Mustang” every month, this is posted to all members of the club and includes a calendar of events, minutes of the club meetings and many interesting articles from sources around the world. Advertising is available through the magazine and members have an opportunity to buy or sell their surplus parts or memorabilia free of charge. If you would like to join the club or simply come to a meeting to “check it out” you will be made welcome, just make contact through this web-site. |
